The national meat output reached 68.65 million tons in 2007, less than 2,240,000 tons in 2006, and dropped by 3.2%.The pork yield was 42.87 million tons, decreasing 3.63 million tons, and dropped by 7.8%. The beef yield was 6.13 million tons, rising 0.37 million tons, and increased by 6.4%. The mutton yield was 3.82 million tons, rising 0.19 million tons, and increased by 5.2%. The poultry meat yield was 14.48 million tons, rising 0.85 tons, and increased by 6.2%. The poultry egg yield was 25.13 million tons, rising 1.05 million tons, and increased by 4.4%.
Adapting to the production changes, the national share of meat per capita reached 52 kilos, less than 1.9 kilos in 2006. The share of pork per capita was 32.5 kilos, decreasing by 2.9 kilos. The share of beef per capita was 4.6 kilos, decreasing by 0.2 kilos. The share of mutton per capita was 2.9 kilos, increasing by 0.1 kilos. The share of poultry meat per capita was 11 kilos, increasing by 0.6 kilos. The share of poultry egg per capita was 22.3 kilos, increasing by 4 kilos.

The amount of Chinese style products was increasing as the result of technology advancement.
In 2008, China’s meat output was more than 72,500,000 tons, an increase of 5.9 percent; the pig on hand increased by 4.5 percent at the end of year, decreasing 164,000 tons than last year¡¦s 1,083,000 tons; the exports was 2.28 billion U.S. dollars, raising by 2.24 billion U.S. dollars than that of last year’s 1.99 percent growth. Meat imports 1.347 million tons raising by 489,000 tons than that of last year¡¦s 858.000 tons, increasing 57 percent; the imports was 1.53 billion U.S. dollars, raising 1.19 times than the previous year’s growth of 690 million U.S. dollars
